Pleo Pre-Order Hoo-Ha

And the gun has been jumped again.

There were some reports around the internet including Gearlog and Slashgear about the Pleo being made avaliable for pre-order at the Trossen Robotics site.

It was obvious that it wasn't true as all us Pleo/Robotics bloggers would have had a nice little press release sat in our in box before hand.

Whether it was a cynical ploy by Trossen to be "front of mind" when the pre-orders do actually kick in, or if it was just an honest "hiccup in communication" as they claim.

I've been on the wrong end of the PR agency before when releasing some info a bit too quickly - that was an honest mistake and I know Julie et al are fantastic at what they do so they'll make sure that the miss-information that surrounds so many new product launches will be kept to a minimum.

Anyways, Julie's comment on the matter which was posted on the Trossen site is:

"My name is Julie Crabill and I work with UGOBE on the PR front. UGOBE has not officially begun any pre-orders for Pleo. The Trossen Robotics pre-order page was put up in response to unsanctioned communication from one of our partners. The page is in the process of being removed however there is likelihood that other sites may follow suit and you can be sure that we will ask for a similar response, ie. the removal of any pre-sell information. UGOBE has not confirmed retail channel partners, the official date we will begin taking pre-orders or the official date Pleo will ship. Once we have this information, we will share it openly with consumers, media and bloggers alike and issue press releases accordingly. Sorry for any confusion on this. Sit tight, Pleo is on the way this summer!"
