And Now for Some Serious Journalism

The Arizona Daily Star has a nice feature about the Pleo Dinosaur. It offers the view that society has a "fascination and love affair with robots". And I'm sure they're right. Major manufacturers, such as Sony, Honda and Toyota, are moving to create domestic robots.

They also raise the question that "will consumers be curious or inspired enough to spend $200 on a robot toy? Can Pleo, a sophisticated piece of hardware, survive the rough-and-tumble day-to-day of modern kids?" Well, baring any economic disaster I think the $200 price tag is well within the grasp of millions of families and is even low enough to allow significant levels of "impulse purchases"

The second point about being robust enough is just one that we'll have to wait and see.
