Your Views On Gadget Shop Please
Gadget Shop have really annoyed some people - including me. I had to constantly phone them up after they sent me an email saying my Pleo had been dispatched - when it wasn't.
It took ages, they didn't reply to loads of emails - even though they were polite on the phone.
If you've bought from Gadget Shop - could you let me know what you think of them?

I have also had the same problem with The Gadget Store ... we paid for our Pleo last week when they emailed us to say they were back in stock and The Gadget Store took the money straight away. We had an emailed despatch notice the following day after our order but nothing has arrived!
I have phoned them constantly for the last 3 days and each time I get a completely different story. Can anyone tell me what we do if they don't arrive before Xmas day as I have promised my daughter one and would be so upset to let her down. The Gadget Store said it would be Guaranteed to arrive but I am now having my doubts .... what can we do about this? Is ther anything legally we can do if it doesn't arrive by xmas day?
They have now tols me it will definately be here Friday and that they have them in their warehouses now - I will keep all my fingers croassed otherwise we will be in big trouble on Christmas morning with no PLEO.
hi there, i originally ordered my pleo from littlewoods direct who gave me a delivery date of the 20th december, a couple of weeks later i recieved an e-mail saying gadget shop had the pleo in stock so i phoned and ordered one from there also (my B plan). the following day i recieved my dispatch e-mail but as you experienced nothing arrived for the next week even though the money was taken from my account!!! I phoned gadget shop the following week to be told that i hadn't read there site properly and that they were not actually in stock but were merely pre-orders ?????? starting to panic i checked my order status with littlewoods online only to find out that my order had been changed from pending to "sorry, no longer available" and right up til now no-one from littlewoods has even bothered to inform me.in desperation i decided to give gadget shop another try and to my surprise they told me that it had been dispatched and even gave me the tracking number for city-link. if you have ordered one from there and want to know for sure that it is on its way ask for the tracking number(if they cant give you it then it hasnt been sent). ordinarily, i would have been really angry about the sneaky system used by gadget shop but as i now have the pleo that my daughter so desperately wanted i have decided to let the matter rest, not that i would use them again unless desperate. my thoughts go to those who havent been so lucky and know that their children will be dissapointed come xmas morning.
p.s if these people on e-bay hadnt bought multiple pleos and then ripped people off by selling them at hugely inflated prices (some are asking as much as £500) there may have been more to go round.

I too am very furious with gadget shop. I ordered my pleo on 13th December, money came out straight away but still no pleo. Last week I was told I would get it on Monday, then it was moved to Wednesday and now I am told 100% that I will receive my pleo on Friday.
I have been annoyed as I have seen plenty of online stock come and go and I feel Gadget shop has been very sneaky taking the money without actual stock. Doesnt IN STOCK mean that they have stock in their warehouse?????
They told me the same thing that it was a pre-order but again I have pre-ordered with a few companies and they did not take the money.
If I do not get my pleo by Christmas I will have one unhappy child and I will be livid with gadget shop. If I get pleo then I will be over the moon but as time goes on I feel that this is not going to happen!! :(
Same as the above; website said in stock, ordered on the 13th, email on the 14th said it was dispatched, but so far, no sign of anything. Not good.
Meanwhile the one I ordered from findmeagift in October, arrived this morning, and is now sat under the stairs waiting for xmas day. Top Marks to findmeagift. Zero to gadgetshop. Definitely buyer beware.
Ebay will answer some people prayers. Nothing wrong with people speculating. Supply and demand and all that.
I have had the same problem too. Pre-ordered mine on the 13th december, was promised monday then wednesday and now friday. I spoke to someone earlier and apparently they were sent out in 2 batches and the first batch would reach people today and the second batch on friday. Apparently mine is in the second batch. It clearly states in their policy that money will not be taken until the item has been dispatched but mine went out on the same day that i pre-ordered it.
Theres got to be something we can do. I might contact citizens advice
im fed up as well.. i ordered last friday.. when this site and the gadget site said it was instock. after taking my money, the email confirmation made out i would get it on monday.. waited all day monday.. foned the gadget shop and awaiting half an hour for them to answer.. they then tell me the stock wasnt with them until saturday and it would be despatched monday to get to me wednesday... so im at home all day yesterday awaiting it.. and I call them again.. waiting god knows how long for them to answer they tell me its still due for despatch but cant really tell me when and it wont be with me on wednesday, maybe thursday or friday.. what a joke..
I had a good experience with gadgetshop. I ordered a Pleo when gadgetshop got them in stock, but went out of stock very quickly and I found 3 on amazon sold by gadgetshop. Delvery estimate was 10 - 15th December, but I emailed them and twice received prompt and very nice emails back explaining the Pleo situation:
Unfortunately not everyone was aware that the Pleo dinosaurs were on pre-order when originally ordered. They were due into us earlier this week however they were delayed until today (14th) due to problem with the delivery on Monday. I can assure you your order has reserved the goods for you and they will be dispatched as soon as they arrive into our warehouse today. Therefore your order shall be with you by Monday/Tuesday of next week. We apologise for the delay Hal, but can assure you that it will be with you in plenty of time for Christmas. I hope this clears the air.
As they said, it was with me on Tuesday (18th), so I was pretty happy. I actually sold that one on ebay since I had another one from Hamleys en route...which had better arrive now before xmas! It has been dispatched, and will hopefully turn up tomorrow!

I posted the first comment about the prror service from Gadget Shop but I am now very happy to say that my PLEO has arrived. I hope everyone else who's posted on the site get theirs very soon.
Update from Gadget shop:
Every pleo they had has gone out except for 12 of them which will be despatched today 100% guarantee! This came from the Warehouse Supervisor. So anyone bought from gadget store should definately receive it today or tomorrow. I purchased mine on
13th December and they said my pleo is one of the 12 that is going out today!!
My Pleo has also now arrived from the gadgetshop, so I now have two. Both under the stairs for XMAS.
I wonder how two will interract.
I can see it now, Godzilla vs Godzilla, on Christmas day. I wonder if I can get them to both breath fire.
Yep I totally agree, they did the same to me. Despatch email sent last Friday, my credit card debited early in the week but no Pleo. Email unanswered, second email unanswered, phone line out of order, engaged or long queues. Just not good enough.

happily my pleo has arrived!! I am releaved, but still say gadget shop are pretty hopeless. I demanded a tracking number and only after three phone calls I got an efficent customer service guy who looked into it and got me tracking number. It was then only the courier who let me down!! They got it yesterday and didnt send it out to me!!
Anyways just picked him/her up had a wee sneaky look and it looks and feels amazing!! My son is going to love it!!!
Ordered Pleo from Gadgetshop on 13th after getting email notification of stock - same as everyone else in that a despatched email was sent.
I phoned gadgetshop a couple of times to get an update on what the situation was. First time was that the despatch email was sent in error as all pleo orders got the mail not just the initial pre-orders - ok fair enough. I then rang a few days later about tracking numbers etc as we were off to lapland with the kids. They were not able to supply a tracking number but had confirmed that it had been despatched. I also got a call while away from Gadgetshop asking if I'd received it ok! thanks! When I returned the parcel had been delivered to my neighbours on the 20th. The box had vivid imaginations all over it so I am assuming that the gadgetshop did not have any physical stock but an allocation from the importers, vivid imagination, I'm also guessing this is why they couldn't easily give me a tracking number, there was a gadgetshop catalog in the box, but his could have quite easily have been slipped in on their behalf by vivid. Anyway off to charge for a few hours before the big day. People are always keen to complain - never so quick to praise. They were fine for me.
My 2 pleo arrived last Friday as promised by The Gadget Shop, still agree that they should not have shown as "in stock" when really it was a pre-order, but it's Christmas and can forgive them, really interested to see how they will interact with each other - all batteries charged and ready to go on Christmas morning - think I'm more exited about them than the kids !!!
