Pleo Maker New Investor

News reaches us that the sucessful Foxconn Electronics company (they recently won a contract to produce the Apple laptop) will invest $3.1 million in Ugobe Incorporate which has created the Pleo Robotic Dinosaur.

Not only are they an investor but it looks like they may end up being the company that produces the Pleo toy.

So things are going well with Pleo's parents :-)

Ugobe due 2nd Round Funding

Ugobe has nearly finalised 2nd round funding of around $8 million which would, I expect, to be used for research and development into a new range of toy robots.

CEO and co-founder Bob Christopher told RedHerring recently: "

We could create a [robot] that could do things for you. It’s not on the road map yet… but the opportunity is there ... We are considering licensing our technology for applications… like science, medical, personal [assistance], or health care.”

At the moment they're looking to differentiate the Pleo Dinosaur Robot from anything else on the market: “What we feel is very important is to be able to make its own decisions.”

It's still too far off from hatching in the UK.
